What is the Appendicular Skeleton?

The Appendicular Skeleton is made up of the bones that anchor the appendages to the axial skeleton.  It is divided into four major categories including:  upper extremities, lower extremities, the shoulder girdle and the pelvic girdle.  Below are links to more detailed explanations of each of the categories of the appendicular skeleton.
